Chanukah/Feast of Dedication

Saturday, December 08, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

For 2018, Chanukah (Feast of Dedication): December 3-10
Solomon's Rest will celebrate on Saturday, December 8 with a potluck following the service.

Chanukah? This is the Feast of Dedication that Jesus, Yeshua, followed which you will find written about in John 10:22. Scholars believe that Jesus, the Light of the World, was conceived during Hanukkah, called the Festival of Lights.  Chanukah honors the rededication of the Temple in 165 BCE when the Hebrews were victorious over their Greek oppressors.  The Greek emperor Antiochus defiled the Temple by slaughtering a pig on the altar and sprinkling its blood on the Torah scrolls. He murdered anyone who would not eat pork and brutally punished those who were circumcised, followed a kosher diet, kept the Sabbath and ate a kosher diet. Chanukah celebrates the victory of the Maccabees and the miracle of the oil that lasted for eight days. Today we keep the Feast of Lights to remind us of Yeshua as the light of the world who drives out the darkness, His righteousness conquering lawlessness, and rejoice in the victory of the clean over the unclean.
